Boris Grebenshchikov, friend of Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell, has released his compilation album ‘Heal the Sky’, which includes their previously unreleased song “Bluebird”.
“Let the arms of love and protection enfold these innocent victims.
Let empathy and peace rise up and place oil on this terrible water.
"Heal The Sky" is a charity compilation aiming to help children who are victims of the war in Ukraine. It consists of previously unreleased tracks by world famous musicians. The stylistic palette of the collection ranges from folk-rock to electronica. The curator of the collection is the legendary Russian musician and poet Boris Grebenshchikov. The war continues. We have no moral right to be silent about it, no right for war fatigue, while people are still being bombed and killed. Boris Grebenshchikov was supported in this project by his friends and colleagues like Lisa Gerrard & Jules Maxwell, Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Marianne Faithful, Marc Almond, Richard Thompson, Jackson Browne, The Waterboys, Clannad, Crowded House and others. in early April I received a call from iconic director Michael Mann
(Heat, Collateral, Last of the Mohicans) inviting me to come set up shop
in his offices on the west side of Los Angeles to compose additional
music for his ninety million dollar film 'Ferrari' starring Adam driver
and Penelope Cruz - thanks to the very kind introduction made by one of
my biggest champions Lisa Gerrard. During the six weeks period in, which
it all took place, I was excited, terrified, awestruck
and literally worked my ass off. What else could I do? I do have to
mention Michael was extremely kind and very generous with me. I would
receive a text or voice mail on my phone giving me direct notes, which I
found surreal in addition to often times being called to Fox studios to
meet with him at the final mix stage to get a closer view of what was
being requested regarding the soundtrack score. Here are some images
that depict this very special time in my career. I want to give a shout
out to his team of amazing people, alongside everyone who was there with
me, including close friends, during this entire process. You know who

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell announce their forthcoming live album, “One Night in Porto”.
Recorded at Casa da Música in Porto during their 2022 Burn tour, the album will be released digitally on 12th May with CD and limited edition Vinyl versions available from 30th June.
Lisa and Jules will be performing an exclusive concert in Lodz, Poland on 1st July to celebrate the album’s launch.

"Very soon after meeting Lisa Gerrard for the first time in my Korea Town-Los Angeles studio, she was approached to compose the soundtrack score for a film about the life of Buddha.
After collaborating on multiple demos we decided to further develop this series into what would ultimately become 'Departum' in view of the film's lack of financial backing. Following last November’s tour of Portugal, Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell are announcing a one-off performance of their album Burn in Poland.
The concert will take place at Teatr Wielki in Łódź on Saturday 1st July as part of the Soundedit Festival 2023 and is their only show currently planned for this year.

New Elijah's Mantle album Paradisiac first print run of 100 now available HERE
The 2022 version of the collaboration between Brendan Perry and the music of Mark St.John Ellis from the new album Paradisiac, consists of extended versions of Sanctus, Es la perdición, Paradisiac and Quem di diligunt. It was originally recorded at the Dead Can Dance studio in Quivvy Church. The new tracks have been enhanced with a variety of interesting instrumental samples and additional voices and edited by the long term collaborator and creative technician Martin Quinn in JAM Studios under the direction of M St.J.E with new arrangements.
The artwork continues the concept towards a collection of the albums and is created by nagDesign with graphics and layout by Liam Furlong.

The prevously named to 'Se phar día' -now retitled 'EX AU DIA' album by Lisa Gerrard and Marcello De Francisci will be released on 26th August, 2022.
The first single from the album will be released on 17th June, 2022 (entitled 'Until we meet again'). The album will be listed as pre-order on the same day.
"Working alongside a team of other musicians including Bahar Shah, Astrid Williamson, Daniela Arbizzi, and Farhad Behroozi, ‘Exaudia’ looks to combine the broad and euphoric textures of De Francisci’s production with the warm and haunting vocals of Gerrard. Described as “a feminine embodiment of poetic expression”, the record was inspired by the history of Spain in the 1500s and its expulsion of Sephardic tribes throughout all of Europe and North Africa, in which it plays majestically with its narrative, inviting a rich and fluorescent texture within each offering.
Explaining how the collaboration came about, Lisa said, “I met Marcello while I was composing for a film called Kings, he had wonderful engineering skills and I liked him as a person. After a while we decided to try composing together and went on to compose some film scores.
“This work was borne out of a desire to write something together during Covid, there is also the artistic desire to embrace the opportunity to unlock our unfulfilled visions. The album is very physical in its construction and sensibility, it is a deeply sensual work that enjoys a sense of empowered subtlety.”
Adding about the inspiration behind the record, Marcello De Francisci said, “For quite some time I had been playing around with the idea of composing a brand new track to Lisa Gerrard’s vocals on “Diary for the Fallen”. I wanted a darker and more brooding version, which could be attributed to Hans Zimmer’s “Time” from the “Inception” soundtrack without plagiarising his work. I wondered what it would have sounded like if Lisa Gerrard had sung on something of this nature, in addition pushing the envelope even further by writing an aria towards the end of this piece including orchestra, choirs and percussion, which would result in one grand finale. It had to be something completely our own”.

The first Elijah's Mantle album, Angels of Perversity, was recorded in the Dead Can Dance Studio, Quivvy Church and produced by Brendan Perry.
There are very few copies of the album available from the record label DeNovaDaCapo so as a continuing project of redefining the back catalogue and removing any repetition of tracks by creating definitive versions, four of the pieces from that album have been extended in their re-arrangements and will be released shortly under the title Paradisiac with a new album cover by nagDesign. Details will be posted in the near future

The brand new show with Hans Zimmer joined by his band and an orchestra as they perform hit compositions from fan-favorite films as well as newer material. Additionally, Zimmer will perform pieces not often performed live.

tour in October is postponed.

COVID-19 situation carefully like everyone has, it has been decided that we cannot put

the fans at potential risk by touring in October.

The previously unreleased 'soundtrack' for MUSHIN was released on 4th June, 2021!
Inspired by Japanese archery (Kyudo) and Noh theatre, the film Mushin is a collaboration between the designer and film-maker Graham Wood and Brendan Perry of Dead Can Dance. The term Mushin is a Zen expression meaning “the mind without mind” and is also referred to as the state of “no-mindedness”. Mushin is achieved when a person's mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego during combat or everyday life. That is, a mind not fixed or occupied by thought or emotion and thus open to everything.To give oneself completely to the shooting is the spiritual goal, achieved by perfection of both the spirit and shooting technique leading to munen musō, "no thoughts, no illusions".

I first heard, what only many years
later I finally came to know as Rebetiko music, in the Greek cafes and
tavernas of suburban Melbourne in the late seventies.These places were
predominantly the local social hubs of Greek migrants who had been
coming in successive waves to Australia since the late 19th century and
during the day were often populated by groups of old men playing
backgammon and sipping ouzo whilst listening to laika and rebetiko
music.
As it happens I too had been a migrant to these southern climes from
England some years earlier and as good fortune would have it our means
of conveyance for the six week long voyage was an old Greek ship called
the ‘Ellinis’. It was on board this ship that my own personal musical
odyssey began when I first learnt to play the guitar.
Over the years my love for ‘all things Greek’ has run somewhat unabated
and especially with regard to Rebetiko music. I have amassed a
considerable collection of recorded music, traditional instruments and
memorabilia over the years that would eventually give me the inspiration
and valued education required to be able to record some of these
wonderful songs.
The fact that there has been virtually no recorded versions of Rebetiko
songs sung in English was also a great surprise to me and was ultimately
the prime motivator for me to share these songs with an English
speaking audience as well as pique the curiosity of the die hard
traditionalist.

The 9th studio album of DEAD CAN DANCE released on 2nd November, 2018,
entitled DIONYSUS. more info ACT I - Sea Borne announces Dionysus’ arrival from the east by ship.
This movement is
crucial to understanding Dionysus as an outsider god -
‘the god that comes’ - central to
Ancient Greek city religions that
affiliate him with the protection of those who do not
belong to
conventional society, and anything which escapes human reason. ACT I - Liberator of Minds, with Dionysus being known as ‘he who
lends men’s minds
wings’, the album’s second movement conveys the use of
hallucinogens and mind-expanding
drugs that are associated with him as
well as breaking free from the constraints of social
norms within
society. ACT I - Dance of the Bacchantes, invokes the rite that Dionysus’
female followers took
part in, abandoning their domestic duties for
trance-like processions and dances. ACT II - The Mountain, the first movement of the album’s second Act,
the listener will
find themselves visiting Mount Nysa. This mountain was
Dionysus’ place of birth, where
he was raised by the centaur Chiron,
from whom he learned chants and dances together
with Bacchic rites and
initiations. ACT II - The Invocation represents the chorus who summon the god to
participate in the
harvest ceremony which also refers to his
pre-eminence in the creation and birth of Greek
theatre and tragedy. ACT II - The Forest, the call to abandon worldly and material
pursuits and return to a
primeval enlightened state of being as in the
Hindu tradition of Vanaprastha “departure
to the forest” which is seen
as the final stage in human spiritual development. ACT II – Psychopomp, the final movement sees Dionysus in his role as a
guide to the
afterlife, where he escorted dead souls to Hades.

A brand new THE SCAVENGERS / THE MARCHING GIRLS compilation LP has been
released for the Record Store Day.
It contains one previously unreleased Scavengers song entitled 'Glad all over' and two hard to
find songs of The Marching Girls entitled 'The answer' (it also availables on the compilation
LP entitled MOVE TO RIOT but with a different song title -Everybody's got the answer'.)
and 'The man who knew too much' which is an earlier demo version of the song.
The band (without Brendan Perry) re-recorded this song and it was released in 1985 on
a vinyl single.
